AfterSchool Teachers for Grades Nursery-5th Grade: Part-Time (Start Date:  September 6th, 2023)

Trevor Day School is seeking Afterschool Teachers for Nursery-5th Grade for the 2023-24 School Year. The teacher will work to fulfill Trevor’s mission and education philosophies and practices.

 

Job Responsibilities:

 

  • Responsibilities include co-teaching with other afterschool teachers with daily routines of
    supervising up to 60 children at a time, setting up and distributing
    snack, taking attendance, dismissal, and leading activities.
  •  On a daily basis the children attend different specialized activities, and the children who are not registered in classes, remain in the AfterSchool room with the Afterschool Teacher.  They have the option of free-play, homework or joining an organized group activity. 
  • This teacher will also assist some of the specialized classes on certain days if needed, such as chess, rollerblading, sports classes, cooking etc. 
  • Days: Monday-Friday
    Hours: 2:30-5:45pm (possibility of working until 6pm)
    Pay: $33.00 per hour

 

Requirements:

 

  • Previous experience working with children at the early childhood and/or elementary level in the classroom or summer camp.
  • Strong verbal communication skills.
  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.

 

Extra Opportunities:

  • Many of our Afterschool teachers also have the option to work as Substitute Teachers during the day. 
  • The candidate in this position also has extra opportunities to work at a variety of events throughout the year supervising childcare while parents and teachers are in meetings.
  • There is also a 2 week camp in June that is run by our Afterschool teachers.
